Gay Jones Johnson, 68, of Campti, LA passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Gay was born July 28, 1949, in Flintville, TN. She was blessed to be born with a best friend, twin sister Faye. They are rejoicing in heaven at being reunited again.
Gay was the proud mother of 3 special daughters, who survived her; Carol Morgan and her husband Robert of Natchitoches, Jerri Holden and her husband Marcus of Campti, and Cindy Holland and her husband James of Campti.
Gay was especially proud of her grandchildren; Spencer Morgan of Washington, D.C., Meagan Masters and Aaron of Ft. Worth, TX, M.J. and Marc Holden of Natchitoches, D’Marcus Collins of Killeen, TX, and Taylor Holland of Campti. She loved them and they loved their “Nanny”.
Gay comes from a large family, being 1 of 13 children born to Charlie and Viola Poole Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Johnny and Harvey Jones; and twin sister Faye Moore. She is survived by her sisters, Louise Jones of Campti, Cathy Jones Perot and husband Ricky of Bartonville, TX, Teresa Theriot and husband Glen of Houma, LA, Annie Mitchell and husband Cecil of Campti; brothers, Jerry Jones and wife Geneva of Dix, IL; Charlie and Billy Jones of Ardmore, OK, and David Jones of Campti; a sister-in-law, Lisa Jones of Hudson, IL. She is also loved and survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Gay worked a variety of jobs in her life but the most rewarding was working with her mother. Gay worked alongside Mama Jones at Jones’ Snack Shack making her famous burgers and making many friends along the way. She was also loved by many she served for 32 years at Sea & Sirloin Restaurant in Campti, LA. She was a caring and loving person and she always placed her family’s needs ahead of her own. She will dearly be missed but never be forgotten.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10 am Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Honzell officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include David Jones, Tyler Holland, Spencer Morgan, Glen Theriot, Ricky Perot, and Wilson Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be M.J. Holden, Marc Holden, Chuck Jones, Billy Jones, and D’Marcus Collins.
