Michael H. Heckart, 96, of 518 S. Ramsom [sic-should be Ransom] died at 10 a.m. June 14, 1986, at Baugh’s Retiremnt Home at 821 N. Elm.
He was born Jan. 27, 1890, in Wapello County to Michael and Rosa Bachman Heckart. He married Bertha Leonard on Nov. 29, 1911. She died in 1916. On Jan. 28, 1920, he married Laura Orman in Wapello County. She died in 1973.
A retired farmer and carpenter, he attended Wildwood Evangelical Free Church.
He is survived by three sons, Marlin and Gerald O. of Ottumwa and Mosie of Burlington; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lawrence of Bloomfield.
The service will be 1:30 p.m. at Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Barry Stewart of Albia Road Southern Baptist Church officiating.
