Harold Claydeen Davidson, 88, Hays, died Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Good Samaritan Society Ellis.
He was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Ellis to Harry and Cecile (Price) Davidson.
He married Luella Mae Bechard on July 6, 1953, in Hays. She preceded him in death Feb. 4, 2017.
He was a 1946 graduate of Ellis High School. He worked for the State of Kansas Employment Office in Hays for 33 years. He was a U.S. Army, veteran serving during the Korean War stationed in Okinawa. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 3rd degree Knights of Columbus St. Joseph’s Council, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Hays. He enjoyed woodworking, bingo and outdoor activities including fishing, camping, and gardening.
Survivors include a son, Gregory Davidson and wife, Rose, Marion; three daughters, Diana Riley and husband, Edward, Preston, Mo., Roxie Ruder and husband, Harvey, Hays, and Jeanette Schroeder and Dan Hake, Tipton; a brother, Lloyd Davidson and wife, Diana, Emporia; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Ivan and Ardon Davidson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors by Hays VFW Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m., both at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601. A combined vigil/rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the activities fund at the Good Samaritan Society of Ellis in care of the funeral chapel.
