JAMES B. BEATTIE
James B. Beattie, son of James R. W. Beattie and Sarah Latson Beattie was born in Genoa township on January 21, 1885, and passed away at his home on West Clinton on April 21.
Except for a brief sojourn in Wyandotte during World War I, his entire life was spent in Genoa and in the city of Howell.
He was united in marriage to Ina Sprague on November 25, 1916 and to this union were born two sons, Vernon, of Lake Chemung, and Claude of Brighton.
In 1942, he gave up farming and moved to Howell where he work for the Howell Electric Motors for a number of years until failing health caused him to retire from active life.
During the last few years he had taken great pride in his fine garden and was pleased when he could share the fruit of his labors with others. He was possessed with an indomitable spirit of perseverance and courage which kept him going until his body could no longer keep up with his detemination to be active.
Besides his wife and two sons, he leaves to mourn their loss three grandchildren; one sister, Sarah Beattie Allen of Howell; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 24, at the Schmackenberg funeral home with the Reverend William Cardwell Prout officiating with burial in the Sanford cemetery.
