Frances Jones Halbert Blackburn was born about 1751 to Joel Halbert and Elizabeth Frances Jones. She was married about 1772 to Ambrose Blackburn II.
Frances and Ambrose began their lives together on Townfork Creek in Surry County, North Carolina. After the Revolutionary War, they relocated to Greenville County, South Carolina. Around 1808, they moved to Georgia, and soon thereafter to Maury County, Tennessee, where they built a still-standing farm house on Swan Creek.
After Ambrose' death in 1820, Frances remained at the estate on Swan Creek in Maury County, Tennessee until her death around 1836. (Her estate settlement by her son John P. Blackburn was audited and accepted by the Maury County Court in the April term of 1837.)
