He was a retired Postmaster of Bismarck with thirty-one years of Federal services. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served from 1958-1962 with the 496 Quartermaster Company at Fort Lee Virginia and the Memphis General Depot.
Charles was married to the former Patricia Ann Walker on June 30, 1961. He was survived by two children, Michael Charles Bingham (Laura) and Tanya Marie Herron (Kenneth); five grandchildren, Daniel Holsapple, Kristina Holsapple, Sarah (Bingham) Washburn, Rebecca Bingham and Matthew Bingham; one sister, Alpha Bingham Ursich of San Pedro, CA; nieces Luci, Liza, Maureen, Margaret; and nephews, Frank, Bob, Stan, Steve, Lee, and Eddie Sanders.
Charles, his two children, and all five grandchildren graduated from Bismarck High School. He was predeceased by his parents and four siblings, Maureen Sutton Deichmeister of Alexandria, VA, Pauline Bingham Pasley of Bismarck, Margaret Sutton Tarpley of Bismarck and Dozier Linsey Sutton of Mesquite, TX.
He loved to drive, which enabled him to visit most of the United States including Alaska and Canada.
Charles Melvin Bingham answered his call to the active mission field by teaching from his home a teleconferencing method of reaching shut-ins living at home or in the hospital.
