Ruth Garner of Dallas, TX went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2017 after a lengthy illness.

Ruth was born on October 14, 1930 in Witten, South Dakota. At the age of 12, she moved with her family to Ogden, UT. At 14, she moved to Sacramento, CA. She graduated from Grant Union High School in 1947.

She married Tom Garner on April 19, 1953 in Sacramento and moved Texas. She was a charter member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, and was very active teaching Sunday School, serving on committees, and ministering to others. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she loved to travel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. Struss and Marguerite Short Struss, and her sister, Mary Struss Tariel.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 64 years, Tom Garner of Dallas; daughter, Susan Garner of Dallas; son, Dan Garner of Mexia, TX; 5 grand children; 3 grand stepchildren; 6 great-grand children; 5 great-grand stepchildren; and a host of beloved friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church, 9810 La Prada Drive, Dallas, Texas 75228. Welcome reception at 10:00 am and funeral services at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church Building Fund.
