Mr. W. F. Phifer, one of the oldest and at one time one of the wealthiest and most prominent citizens of Charlotte, died at his residence on East College Street Wednesday night of apoplext. A few months ago, Mr. Phifer received a stroke of apoplexy from which he had never fully recovered, and a recurrence of the attack Wednesday terminate fatally about nine o'clock that night. The deceased was in his 73rd year. The funeral will be preached from the Second Presbyterian Church this morning at 10 o'clock.
