He was born July 9th, 1925 in Crawford County Indiana to the late Russell and Lulu Carol (Crawford) VanWinkle and was a retired employee of Essroc Cement Company in Speed, IN.
Clarence was the widower of his wife of 64 years Virginia M. VanWinkle who died in March of 2010. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of W.W. #2, a member of the American Legion and served his country proudly. Clarence will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a son Gary VanWinkle and three daughters; Donna VanWinkle, Debbie Batliner and Glenda Dirck.
Survivors include: Children; Larry Lynch (Robbin), Patricia VanWinkle, Elaine Talbott (Eddie), Lisa VanWinkle, and Steven VanWinkle (Cathy). 18 Grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Two sisters; Geneva and Onieda, and one brother James Wayne. Also several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday July 30th, and after 9:00 am Monday at Kraft funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service with Full Military Honors will be held at 12:00 noon Monday July 31st at the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel. Private entombment will be in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park Chapel of the Cross.
