Mrs. Smales was born June 8, 1900, at Corvallis, and died suddenly Friday at her home in Lake Grove.
Surviving are the widower, Russell T.; three daughters, Mrs. Jean Gilbertson and Beatrice Smales, Portland, and Mrs. Patricia Hummel, Everett, Wash.; two sons Howard and Ronald, Portland; two sisters, Mrs. Olive A. Edwards, Portland, and Mrs. Ethel Bianchi, Vallejo, Cal., and six grandchildren.
