Wesley Daniel Mills, 92, of Hollister, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Putnam Community Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Mills had lived in Hollister for the last 30 years, and prior to that had lived in Palatka since 1951, coming from Gainesville. He had worked as a telephone installer/repairman and retired from Bell South in 1984 after 33 years of service. He was a perpetual member of Pineland Masonic Lodge #86 in Palatka where he was a past Master and Chaplain for 27 years. He enjoyed gardening, farming, raising livestock, raising sugar cane, and making syrup. He was a member of Welaka Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington and Martha Jane Corbin Mills; six brothers, and a sister.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Wesley E. “Eddie” and Lynn Mills of Hollister; three brothers and sisters-in-law, his twin Warren E. “Ed” and Margaret Mills of Palatka, Rubin Mills of Trenton, and Ray and Margaretta Mills of Gainesville; a sister, Ruby Gaskin of Gainesville; a grandson, Wes (Brittany) Mills; two step-grandchildren, Travis (Jen) Wroubel, and Jessica Finley; three great grandchildren, Makenna Smith, Maycee Mills, and Zaylee Clarke; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 23, 2017 at Masters Funeral Home of Palatka from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Bill Williams officiating. Masonic rites will be performed by Masonic Lodge #86 of Palatka. Interment will follow in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
