Civil War veteran. Samuel McLenegan was mustered into Co I 79 Pa Inf as a private in Lancaster, Pa on October 2, 1961. He was promoted to drummer on an unknown date and reenlisted at Chattanooga, Tn on February 9, 1864. He was mustered out on July 12, 1865. McLenegan was 19 at the time of enlistment, 5 feet 3 1/2 inches tall, had red hair, a fair complexion and gray eyes. His occupation was that of printer.
