Troy Fountain Wood, 85 year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma resident, passed away at home in Weatherford surrounded by his family Wednesday, July 26, 2017. He was born November 30, 1931, in Burns Flat, Oklahoma to Albert and Pearl (Wilson) Wood.

Troy was raised and attended school in Burns Flat and graduated from Burns Flat High School in 1949. On December 2, 1950, he married Clydene McLerran in Henrietta, Oklahoma. Troy served his country in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1984 as a flight engineer, a flight instructor and evaluator. Ending his career as the military airlift command chief flight engineer for the C5 Galaxy. Troy served in both Vietnam and Korean wars. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodges in Weatherford, Custer City, Cordell, and Thomas. He was presented and currently holds the 33rd Masonic Degree of the Guthrie Scottish Rite, which is the highest degree obtainable. He was also a member of the Oklahoma Shriners.

On April 4, 2015, he married Dixie (Tobin) Palmer in Weatherford and made their home. Troy enjoyed being a pilot and flying with his sons and spending time with family and friends. In the recent months Troy and Dixie have enjoyed traveling the countryside visiting many friends and family in his new pickup.

Troy is survived by his wife, Dixie Wood of their home in Weatherford, Oklahoma; two sons, Troy Ray Wood and wife, Jeanna of Flower Mound, Texas and Tony Lee Wood and wife, Julia of Slidell, Texas; one daughter, Jacqueline Neumayer of Danville, Kentucky; two step-sons, Richard Palmer and wife, Robin of Thomas, Oklahoma and Jason Palmer and wife, Amy of Leedey, Oklahoma; two step-daughters, Cheryl Brownlee and husband, Don of Truro, Iowa and Jennifer Payne and husband, Rick of Thomas, Oklahoma; nineteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clydene; two brothers, Clint and Cecil; and one sister, Nella Faye.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017, 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church with Earl Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow in Custer City Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
