John E. Walters, 76 of 221 Western Heights Drive, died at 1:27 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, in White County Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Walters was born July 26, 1917, in Jasper County. His marriage was to Helen Dallinger, June 4, 1946, in Warren, Ind., and she survives.

A resident of White County for 47 years, Mr. Walters was a farmer. He is an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Italian campaign, in Tunisia, and Rome-Arno, where he drove an ambulance.

Mr. Walters was a member and former deacon of the Reynolds Christian Church, Monticello American Legion Post, and the Monon Eagles Lodge.

He attended Reynolds Schools and Purdue University.

Also survivinbg are two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Carol) Kyburz of West Lafayette, and Rite Walters Masters of Monee, Ill.; a son, John G. Walters of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two sisters, Mrs. Martin (Ruth) Crawn of Monticello; Mrs. Charles (Laura) Mikels of Lafayette and 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Monday, Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello. Service there 11 a.m. Tuesday, Pastor Tim McQuinn officiating. Interment Riverview 100F Cemetery.
