Carl was a graduate of PHS Class of 1959 where he was on the State Champion Football Teams of 1958 and 1959 and an All State Football Player. He was also on the wrestling team and a member of the Boys All State, FFA, 4-H and showed livestock at the Wood County Fair and Jackson Mill. He was employed at Citizens Block and Brakes Trucking as a truck driver and owned and operated Carl F. Elliott Pallets and Sawmill for 30 years.
He was a lifetime farmer and cattleman, served as a board member for the Wood County 4-H Fair Board, helped to start the Truck and Horse Pulls at the 4-H and Wood Co Fair, running it for 15 years. He was also a 4-H All Star and FFA Alumni and member of the Waverly Lions Club. He attended Middle Ridge Baptist Church. He loved Bluegrass music and sings and rebuilding old tractors with his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta May Elliott, who he married November 11, 1959; four children, Luetta (Charles) Barnett of Marietta, Cheryl (Denzil) Martin of Palestine, William “Bill” (BJ) Elliott of Waverly, Chris (Karen) Elliott of St. Mary’s; grandchildren, Josh and Denny Martin, Crystal (Justin) Barnett Sheaves, Charlie Barnett, Ashley and Jake (Jordan) Elliott, Donny (Whitney) Martin; three great grandchildren, Gavin, Taylor, Addy; one sister, Patsy Ramsey of Belpre.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin “Bub” Elliott (129821510).
Services will be Monday 1:00 pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Reverend Mark Dowler and Reverend John Frum, officiating. Burial will follow at McMullen Cemetery.
