Mrs. Horton, 62, of Alexandria, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at her home.

Mrs. Horton was a graduate of Holy Savior Menard High School. Besides her precious family, Carol’s passion was for our Lord. She surrendered her life completely to God, and became a devout member of the Pentecostals of Alexandria. She was saved by the blood of Jesus so many years ago and has never looked back. Throughout her Christian path, Carol taught Sunday school, organized church buses, lead prayer groups, and witnessed to hundreds and hundreds of believers and non.

When people speak about Carol, one thing remains a constant. Carol was an advocate in children’s lives; no matter gender, race, creed, color, or religion. With 5 of her very own there was never a time Carol’s home was not filled with many, many children. Carol listened, soothed, advised, fostered, encouraged, cherished, and loved too many youths for us to count throughout the years. And Carol preached! She didn’t care what you believed; she was going to tell you all about her God and Savior. Her door was always open and everyone she ever knew felt safe and welcome in her house and in her life. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed dearly.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 22 years, James Horton; sons, Corey Worth and wife, Shanna, Tommy Dever and Tyler Dever; step-son, Colton Horton; daughters, Desiree’ Guillory and Kristin Dever; parents, Lawrence and Velma Vondenstein; grandchildren, Zachary Guillory, Zane Guillory, Lauren Worth and Maximus Bruff; a host of other family members and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Pentecostals of Alexandria, 2817 Rapides Avenue Alexandria, Louisiana 71301.
