Funeral services for Fred C Dean, 75 years old, retired United States Customs inspector who died Friday at his summer camp on Whidbey Island, will be held at 1:30 o'clock tomorrow in the Home Chapel, followed by burial in Washelli.
Mr Dean was born in Kansas and lived in Seattle since 1905. He became an customs inspector in 1896, serving in that capacity until his retirement in 1936. He first came to Washington with his parents in 1876 when they lived in Seabeck, Kitsap County. During the nine years preceeding his service in customs office here, Mr. Dean had been a sailor and visited Japanese ports.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Dora Dean, 2552 14th Ave W, four sons; Morris Dean, Sequim, Earl Dean, Grays Harbor, Ernest Dean, a customs inspector in Seattle, and Lawrence Dean, Seattle; a granddaughter, Mrs. Margaret Lamping, Seattle, and a great-grandson, Ernest Dean, Sequim.
