Americus Columbus "A. C." Daniel, son of Stephen Daniel and Matilda H. Bond, married Estella Nancy Cherry on 18 May 1863 in Hinds County, Mississippi. they had two children, Willie and Emma. Estella died in 1876. About 1877, A.C. married Sarah Catherine Bowen, widow of William C. C. Akard. They had a daughter Lillie.

Funeral service for Capt. A. C. Daniel, 76 years old, who died at an early hour yesterday morning, will be held at the residence, 4115 Cole avenue, at 2 o'clock this afternoon, the Rev. Sam R. Hay, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. The burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Captain Daniel was born in Fayette, Chambers County, Alabama. During the Civil War he served in the Third Mississippi Regiment and participated in the Battle of Manassas. He came to Dallas forty years ago and was one of the pioneer real estate men here. He retired from active business some years ago and was an invalid for six years preceding his death. For thirty-five years he lived on the southeast corner of Wood and Akard streets. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Emma Jones of Dallas, Mrs. J. D. Keefer of Houston and Mrs. A. T. Watts, wife of Capt. A. T. Watts of the United States Army, at El Paso, and three stepsons, C. D. Akard of Montrose, Colo.; A. C. and Fred Akard of El Paso. He also leaves three grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
