Lewis G. Barnes, 80, of Eureka, IL passed away at 11:22a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at his residence.
Lewis was born on July 28, 1936 in Andalusia, AL a son of Lewis and Minnie Manning Barnes. He married Nethelna Goodwin on September 7, 1971 in Jacksonville, FL. She survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Tommy(Lisa) Barnes of Hudson; Larry(Lori) Brittain of Eureka; Daughter Tammy(Thamir)Massraf; three sisters, Thelma(Billy) Sorrells of Andalusia, AL; Dot Baker of Georgia; LaMerle Nichols of Bainbridge, GA; 7 grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Henry Barnes, one brother and one sister.
Lewis worked as a maintenance supervisor at State Farm in Bloomington for 30 years retiring in 1998.
Lewis served his country in the Army during the Korean War.
Lewis enjoyed doing woodworking in his spare time.
Graveside services will be held at 2p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Hudson Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Bloomington/Normal Honor Guard. Rev. Doug Hicks will officiate. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka is handling the arrangements for the family.
