Mattie departed this wonderful well-lived life, Wednesday, July 26, 2017, in Metairie, LA; at Canon Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roosevelt Turner, her grandson Sean Jere' Griffin, and seven siblings.
Mattie confessed Christ at an early age and united with Taylor Chapel C. M. E. Church of Prichard, AL; and then with White Stone Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully.
She worked as a dedicated Public Servant (Crossing Guard) for the city of Prichard Police department for 27 years. She also was a proud alumni of Alabama State Teacher College and White's Beauty and Barber College.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Jeffery) Griffin of Gretna, LA; and Derrick T. (Tracey-deceased) Turner of Daphne, AL; Grandsons, Jeffery Griffin, Jr., of New Orleans, LA; Derrick T. Turner, Jr., of Daphne, AL; and great-granddaughter, Carley Joy Griffin of New Orleans, LA. Also survived by two brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends including a devoted nephew and caregivers Mitchell (Juanita) Milligan, III, Jeanette Bailey, Hilda Lee, Koki Luttrell, and Paula Rogers.
