CONCORDIA -- Ruth Ilene (Beden) Alkire, 90, of Concordia, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Barnes to Albert and Elsie (Barker) Beden. Ruth graduated from Concordia High School in 1942.
She married Harold Junior Alkire on June 9, 1946, in Salina.
Ruth was a registered nurse and worked at St. Joseph Hospital from 1946-1982. She was a member of First Christian Church, Kansas State Nursing Service Director's Association, VFW Auxiliary and organized blood mobile drives.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Sandy), of McPherson; daughter, Ann (Hans) Andrewson, of McPherson; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at First Christian Church, Concordia, with Pastor Jeff Nielsen officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to First Christian Church Cold Cup Ministry.
