Gynn Raymond Harris, 91 of Garland, Texas, passed away on July 24, 2017 in Mesquite, Texas. He was born on February 5, 1926 in Johnson (sic) County, Oklahoma to Arland and Oreta (Ogle) Harris. Gynn married Avalon Inez Combest on November 6, 1953 in Sherman, Texas. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and then he worked as a project manager for Boeing Aviation for 25 years. Gynn was a member of the Korean War Veteran’s Association, Sam Johnson Chapter 270 in Richardson, Texas, and he enjoyed going to church at the Church of Christ in Murphy, Texas. Gynn loved music, and he collected vinyl records, compact discs, and 8-track tapes. If it had music on it, he wanted to have it. He also enjoyed airplanes and collecting military memorabilia. Gynn was survived by his daughter, Rhonda Ratcliff and husband Marc of Fairfax, Virginia; son, Lance Harris and wife Connie of Garland; three grandchildren, Joel Aycock and wife Desiree of Gun Barrel City, Texas, Brittany Harrison and husband Ryan of Garland, Texas, and Morgan Harris of Garland; six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Joel Jr., Willow, Emily, Sophie, and Allie; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Combest. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Avalon Harris; and sister, Patsy Macias. Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Chapel in McKinney, with Owen Campbell officiating. Interment followed at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina, Texas. Serving as Pallbearers were: Joel Aycock, Glenn Woods, Nathan Weilbacher, Scott Brierley, Kay Woods, and Jerry Malone.
