Gilberto Guerra Diaz, 65, passed from this life on February 6, 2017 in Deer Park, TX. Mr. Diaz is preceded in death by his parents Erasmo Diaz Sr. and Olga Diaz. Mr. Diaz is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Diana Diaz. His children, Zulika Diaz-Frederickson and her husband, Deron; Gibby and Kara Diaz, Dominique Diaz, Marcus Diaz and Andrew Diaz. He is also survived by his siblings; Erasmo Diaz Jr., Minerva Vellajo, Hermelinda D. Garcia, Juan Jesus Diaz, Irma Reyna, Patty Nacol and Melissa Fernandez.
Some of the La Portians might remember some of the business ventures the Diaz family owned and operated in La Porte. Gilberto Diaz owned and operated the Fruit stand on Broadway in La Porte. Later he and Diana owned and operated Speedy Taco on Main and 4th Street in La Porte. Later he and Diana also had a night club at 146 feeder and Main. – Starship 2000.
Visitation will be Friday, February 10 from 6-8pm at Stepping Stone Funeral Home in La Porte. The service will be at 2pm on February 11 at First Baptist Church in La Porte and burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Deer Park.
