His obituary in the Wolf Point Herald, on February 11, 1926, opens with this sentence: "Hiram T. Van Wagoner, who was a resident of this section of Montana several years ago, residing just across the river in McCone county with his daughter Tessie Van Wagoner, died at a Minot hospital last Wednesday morning". So, I'd go with Minot as his place of death; Hiram served as the Mayor of Minot from April, 1892, to April, 1894.
