Evelin Earl was born March 2, 1846, in Napoli country, New York. He had five sister and three brothers, all deceased. At the age of five, he came to Michigan with his parents. He served in the civil war under General Grant, in company E of the 16th Michigan Voluntary Infantry. He was united in marriage to Martha Wheeler in 1872. Five children were born to this union Mrs. Rose E. Dunning, Milo Earl, Arthur Earl, Mrs. Nellie Nelson, and Homer Earl. His wife passed away 12 years ago. He passed away at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 5 days, at the home of his son Milo Earl, after an illness of three years. He leaves to mourn, the five children, 19 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives. Funeral services were held from Benson's chapel Monday at 2 p m. Rev, Pat Webster officiating. The burial was made at Earl cemetery. The Otsego Union July 13, 1933 page 4
