Matthew Scott Howard, 27, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 24, 2017, at his home. He left us to be with his loving mother who recently passed away, and she is surely reading him the riot act and providing comfort and love.

He was born Oct. 10, 1989, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Terry Ray Howard and Colleen Marie Johnston Howard. He grew up in the area and attended Westside Elementary, Eagle Rock Junior High and Skyline High School. He also attended Eastern Idaho Technical College, and he planned to attend Idaho State University in the fall.

Matthew worked as a health care paraprofessional. His wonderful personality shined as he cared for and interacted with his coworkers and those in need. He will surely be missed by his loved ones and those whose lives he touched in the community.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He enjoyed reading, gaming, kayaking, hiking, fishing, camping and loved being with his dog, Seras. Matthew was a solitary and loving individual who enjoyed quiet. He showered his love and time on his nephews, nieces and children of close friends. He could always make them laugh and smile.

Matthew is survived by father, Terry Howard, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sisters, Christina (John) Giannini, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Celeste (Jon) Weber, of Lyndon, Kansas, and Andrea (Adam) Grigsby, of Meridian, Idaho; brother, Benjamin Howard, of Crosby, North Dakota; grandparents, Ralph and Joy Johnston; grandfather, Allen Howard; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandmother, Helen Howard.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., with Bishop Fred Cooper, of Idaho Falls Pioneer Ward, officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Sweden Cemetery.
