Obituary for Martha Ledbetter Sims

Martha Ledbetter Sims, 87 of Pendleton, SC passed away Monday, July 24, 2017, at Lila Doyle Nursing Care Facility.
Born May 4, 1930, in Anderson County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Ralston Ledbetter and the late Martha Grace Martin Ledbetter. She was also preceded in death by her late husband of 46 years, Ed Sims. Martha met her husband at a square dance after the war and he proposed to her after only six weeks.
Martha was a graduate of Anderson Girls High School. She worked alongside her husband in his business Sims Body Shop in Pendleton, SC, where she was bookkeeper and office manager. She was a vivid story teller, artist and also enjoyed sewing. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pendleton and enjoyed church activities and Christian hymns. She loved spending time with her family and raised her children with strict values.
She is survived by her daughters, Jeanie (William) Hunt of Rockledge, FL and Nancy (Philip) Davidson of Seneca, SC; six grandchildren, James, Lynette, Carlyn, Chad, Audrey and Lauren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by: a sister, Nancy Ledbetter Jordan.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday, July 28, 2017, at The McDougald Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at First Baptist Church of Pendleton with Rev. Jennifer McClung Rygg officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
