Services for Walter Harold "Booty" Boatner, Sr., 88, a resident of Louisiana War Vets Home and former resident of Norwood, LA who died Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary, LA will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Norwood Baptist Church in Norwood, LA at 11:00am with Rev. Joe Ratcliff officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Newman Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Norwood Baptist Church Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and Wednesday from 10:00am until time of Service. Walter was born in Baton Rouge, LA., November 28, 1928 to Thomas Ira Boatner and Catherine Aric Garig Boatner. He was a retired Carpenter and a Korean War Veteran and a member of Norwood Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his Parents; 3 Sisters: Dorothy B, Seales, Florence B. Wright and Catherine B. Rish. Survivors included 2 Sons: Walter "Chip" & wife Karen Boatner of Conway, Ark. and Robert "Beve" & wife Rhonda Boatner of Slaughter, LA.; Brother: Milton & wife Frances Boatner of Norwood, LA.; Grandchildren: Blaine Boatner, Drew & wife Jessica Boatner, Casey Boatner, Jared Boatner and Callie Boatner; Great Grandson Nathan Boatner. Pallbearers will be Blaine Boatner, Drew Boatner, Jared Boatner, John "Scooter" Boatner, Tommy Rish, Mike Rish and David Rish. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Norwood Baptist Church or St. Jude's Children Foundation.
