Mrs. Johnnie B. Baker, 92, of Forrest City, the wife of the late Rev. Sherman W. Baker Sr., died Friday, July 14, 2017, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
Mrs. Baker was born Nov. 14, 1924, in Holly Grove, to her father, the late Mr. Jarrett Johnson, and her mother, the late Mrs. Elnora Johnson.
Survivors are her children, Chaplain (Colonel) Sherman W. Baker Jr., (Retired) of Reno, Nev., Colonel Henderson Baker II, (Retired) of Alexandria, Va., Paul A. Baker of Forrest City, Evelyn Avis Baker of Largo, Md., and Shandia R. Baker of Louisville, Ky.; four grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Clay Funeral Home, 2522 E. Broadway in Forrest City.
The funeral service for Mrs. Baker will be at 11 a.m., Friday, July 21, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Forrest City. Interment will be in New Sardis Cemetery in Forrest City, under the direction of Clay Funeral Home.
Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Clay Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sherman W. and Johnnie B. Johnson Baker Sr. Scholarship Fund c/o P.O. Box 151893, Alexandria, VA 22315.
