Geraldine Church, 68, of Newton, NC, formerly of McDowell County, died Saturday, July 22, 2017, in Newton, NC, following a long illness.

Geraldine was born November 3, 1948, in Paynesville, WV, a daughter of the late Shurles Allen (1921-Deceased) and Georgia Mae Stacy-Justice-Allen (1914-Deceased). She was a home maker and a member of the Church of God.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harley Clyde Workman (1943-Deceased) whom she married on May 18, 1964 in Uneeda, Boone County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Boone County, WV, 1964, Page 450, Application Date: May 23, 1964); second husband, Jerry Church (Deceased); and a daughter, Darlene Workman (Deceased).

Survivors include four daughters, Arlene Workman-Baker and Tammy Workman-Rose both of Montcalm, WV, Velda Workman-Collins of Conover, NC, and Donna Workman-Kaylor of Newton, NC; one son, Harlen Workman of Bluewell, WV; one brother, Roger Allen of Oceana, WV; three sisters, Adeline Allen-Taylor (1946-2017) of Welch, WV, and Audrey Allen-Alderman of Galax, VA; and ten grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at 11:00 with Pastor Joe Bill Profitt and Pastor Joey Proffitt officiating at the Crystal Block Church of God in Whitewood, VA. Burial will follow in the Preston Mullins Cemetery on Stateline Ridge near Paynesville, WV.
