Born May 24, 1926 in Petersburg she was the daughter of Bernard and Gertrud (Onken) Allen.
She married Manlieus (Mance) Blane on July 3, 1949. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1999.
Surviving are her daughters, Nancy Blane-Canada and her husband Eric of Wheaton, and Judy Blane-Olesen and husband Peter of Petersburg. Ann is survived by and dearly loved by her 6 grandchildren Jay (Robyn) Basso, Jodi Eberle, Molly (Ben) Gambrel, Stowe Olesen, Ashley (JP) Payne and Dane (Jessica) Canada. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, Dominic, Eli, Cali, Ty and Charlotte, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her dear friend, June Gamage, also shared countless memories with Ann.
Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, John (Jack) Allen and Thomas Allen. Her sister-in-law Mary Ella Allen survives.
Ann graduated from Petersburg Harris High and MacMurray College. She taught in the PORTA School District, first as a music teacher, traveling to each school throughout the District, and later as a 4th grade teacher at Petersburg Elementary.
She was a life-long member of Central Presbyterian Church in Petersburg where she played the organ for years. She was an avid bridge player and celebrated over 50 years of playing with her group of friends. In their retirement, Ann and Mance enjoyed traveling and spending long winters at their home in Ahwautukee, Arizona, where many family and friend memories were created. Ann belonged to the Petersburg Women's Club and Questers Club.
Ann was a beloved wife, Mom, and Grandma to her family and will be greatly missed. Her family would like to thank the staff at Sunny Acres for the wonderful care she received over the years and for the new friends we have made.
Visitation will be at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg from 4-7 on Friday, March 31. Funeral service will be Saturday, April 1 at Central Presbyterian Church at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers donations in Ann's name can be made to Central Presbyterian Church or to the PORTA Foundation.
