Jewel L. Libby, 82, entered into rest July 21, 2017.
Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park
Mrs. Libby was a native of Augusta having moved to Belvedere upon her husband’s retirement from the Air Force. As a military wife, Mrs. Libby had the opportunity to live around the world. While in Germany, she became a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and remained a member for over 50 years. Along with her sisters, Frieda Carter and Ann Key, she was the co-owner of Key Book Keeping Services. Later, she worked as office manager of James Brown Enterprises for over twenty years until Mr. Brown’s death. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Libby loved animals, particularly cats.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Libby; her parents, Leon J. Key and Edna Powell Key.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Brian Cardis, Macon, GA; four sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Laurel Barrett, Griffin, GA, Michael Barrett, Melbourne, FL, Bruce Barrett, Augusta, GA and Russell and Mona Libby, Augusta, GA; two sisters, Frieda Carter, Augusta, GA and Geraldine Suldickas of North Carolina; a brother, Ronnie Key, Augusta, GA; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
