Richard was born in Lawrence, Kansas, to the late Elmer and Edra Nadine Christie. He was a groundskeeper for Mesquite Independent School District but is best remembered as an avid Kansas Jayhawks fan. A great fan of sports, he followed with passion his teams, the Jayhawks, and the Cowboys.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law; Virginia Everett; and a grandson, Jayden.
Survivors in clude his wife, Lawanna Christie; son, Evan Christie and wife, Mandy; grandchildren, Braylen and Katelyn; brother, Ron Christie; sister, Rhonda Rose and husband, Richard; other relatives and many friends.
