GARNER, Van, 70, died July 22, 2017 at his residence in Lexington, KY. He was the son of the late Lewis and Mary Coleman Garner of Dresden, TN. Mr. Garner served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, and retired from GTE after 29 years of service where he had been a sales/account manager. He also was a consultant with the state of Kentucky for 11 years. He was raised in Oak Grove Baptist Church in Dresden, TN and was currently a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Lexington, KY. Survivors include two children, Troy (Beth) Garner and Julie (Richard) McQuerry, both of Lexington, KY; five grandchildren, Kate, Molly, and Leah Garner, Ethan and Stella McQuerry; his fiancée, Tillie Barker; and four sisters, Phyllis (Clarence) Collins, Greenfield, TN, Wanda (Billy) Powell, Dresden, TN, Brenda (Jerry) Williams, Union City, TN and Donna (Robert) Bates, also of Dresden, TN. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
