TUSCOLA: Nora Faye (Wells) White, 85, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at a local nursing facility in Abilene.

A graveside service will be held in the Buffalo Gap Cemetery at 2:00pm on Friday, February 19, 2016, Marcy Grun officiating, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 18, from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home.

Nora was born to Lee and Edith (Finch) Wells on August 28, 1930, at their farm in Mills County.

She attended school in Eldorado and graduated in 1948.

She met her future husband while working as a cashier at a café in San Angelo. Nora married Frank White on June 10, 1949 in San Angelo.

When Frank was drafted into the United States Army, and after boot camp, she and Frank moved to his new duty station, and for the first fours years of their marriage they lived at Fort Bliss in El Paso. While at Fort Bliss they welcomed their first son Freddie, Jr. After Frank's tour of duty, Nora and Frank moved to Abilene where Frank went to work in the oilfield and Nora stayed home. They welcomed their second son, Dennis, and then they opened their hearts and adopted Debbie, their only daughter.

In 1960, Nora and Frank opened, Frank White’s Well Service, and for the next 30 years, Nora kept the books and ran the office for the well service.

Nora loved to travel and gossip, some of her favorite places she visited where Branson, MO, Ruidoso, NM, and their seconded home on Lake Brownwood. She had a passion for cooking and feeding anyone at her table. When not cooking, she enjoyed fishing off the dock at the lake, and visiting with her next-door neighbor. Nora was always current on all of the local “talk”.

She is survived by her husband, of 66 years, Frank White of Tuscola; son, Dennis White and wife Vickie of Winters, daughter, Debbie Schroeder and husband David of Fort Worth; sister, Hazel Chamberlain of Brownwood; six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Fredrick “Freddie” White, Jr. (dec. 2007), brother, Norman Wells, and sister, Treva Mayfield.
