Violet Evelyn Smith, 93, of Elizabethtown, KY, died Monday, July 17, 2017 at Kensington Manor Genesis Health Care. She was born August 16, 1923 to her parents, Marion Cates and Ella Mae Griffin.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two husbands, William C. Smith and Joe D. Edmiston; two daughters, Amelia Kerr and Sue Pumphrey; a son, Carl Eugene Kerr; two sisters, Marie Cates and Nancy Teague; and two brothers, Delbert and Dale Cates.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie Smith of Louisville, KY; a sister, Dorothy Bond; two brothers, Terrell and Bobby Cates; seven grandchildren, Jessica Humphrey, Christopher Humphrey, Bobbie Munoz, Michael Pumphrey, Russell Pumphrey, Jerry McQueary Jr and Charles Pinkstaff Jr.; and eight great-grandchildren, Kayla, Colby, Joseph, LaJuan, Ashley, Chucky, Heather and Eric.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff, KY with Rev. Kevin Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Matt and Shirley at Belk's in Elizabethtown for their exceptional help and compassion.
