Millard Barnett Garvin, 94, of Stephenville, died Thursday, April 16, 2009, at a local nursing home.

He was cremated with a memorial service to be held in Fairfax, Virginia at a later date.

He was born on February 28, 1915, to the late Rev. Henry Barnette and Florence Hall Gordon Garvin. He married Betty Adams Coombs on October 17, 1998, in Brooksville, Florida.

He was member of Weslyan Church in Brooksville, Florida and attended First Baptist Church of Stephenville and he served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Garvin of Stephenville; daughter, Jennifer and husband, Diego Sanchez of Richmond, VA; son-in-law, Charles Summers of Gainsville, VA; grandchildren, Kristin J. Summers and Timothy M. Summers of Gainsville, VA; nephew, RT Kendall; niece, Marilyn Kendall; and brother-in-law, George Kelly.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Freda (McCurley) Garvin; daughter, Marcia L. Summers; sister, W. Ruth Garvin Kelly and brother, Lowell Garvin.
