Brenda “Bree” Faye Stevenson, 48, passed away April 5, 2017 at her home in Olathe. Celebration of Life was held Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, 913-856-7111. Cremation followed. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be given to Friends of JCMHC (Johnson County Mental Health Center Fund).
Bree was born January 13, 1969 in Shreveport, LA to Jewell LaFaye (Jones) and Ruben Merritt. She grew up in Louisiana and moved to the Olathe area 15 years ago. Bree married Shawn Robert Stevenson on October 1, 2011 in Olathe, KS. She loved traveling on motorcycles, gardening and singing, especially Patsy Cline songs. Bree will be dearly missed.
Bree is survived by her husband Shawn of the home; daughter Ashley LaFaye Lindsey of KCMO; son Rodger Lindsey of LA; step-son Jordyn Robert Stevenson of Wichita, KS; brothers David Merritt and wife Tammy, Johnny Merritt and wife Janice, all of CO; mother and father in-law Robert and Linda Stevenson of Newton, KS.
