Donna Kay Pace, beloved wife, mother and grandmother was called home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and escorted by angels after a long, courageous battle with ALS July 14, 2017 in Colorado Springs, CO. Born in Austin, TX on May 16, 1951, she was the eldest of three daughters born to Billy and Vernalee Ernst.
Donna graduated from Richland High school in Ft. Worth, TX in 1969 where she met the love of her life, Doug Pace marrying in 1972. After graduating from North Texas University, she later received her Masters degree from Baylor University.
Mrs. Pace was a dedicated speech and drama teacher. Her love of people, infectious smile, heart full of enthusiasm and beautiful bright eyes could light up any room. She had a flair for teaching and leading others in a fun and dramatic way with her stories, original skits, her music, lively voice and her obvious love for people. She ran a tight ship in her classroom but would never hesitate to put her arm around a student that needed special attention. Donna was honored by her colleagues as Teacher of the Year for District 20 and one of three finalists for Teacher of the State of Colorado.
Donna leaves behind a devoted husband, Douglas B. Pace, loving children, Kacy Winters (Matt Lang) of Castle Rock, CO, Spencer (Lisa) Pace of Colorado Springs and precious grandchildren, Gavin, Peyton, Brenly, and Lily, parents, Billy and Vernalee Ernst, sisters, Debbie Howard (Chip), D’Ann Laywell (Paul). Inlaws, Jeanne Caston, Roxy Seligman (Bob), Ryan Pace (Teresa) and a multitude of wonderful nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and dear friends.
Services will be held on July 21 at 11:00 AM, at The Church on the Ranch - 3685 Jeannine Dr., Colorado Springs.
