SIERRA VISTA — Jane Benham Cantrell, 92, of Sierra Vista departed this world on Wednesday, July 12, 2017.

Jane was born in Miami, Arizona, on Sept. 17, 1924, to L.E. and Ethyl Benham. She grew up in Winslow and Phoenix, Arizona.

She graduated from Winslow High School in 1942. She received a B.A. in education from Arizona State College (now known as NAU) in May 1946.

While there she met and married Thomas Cantrell (now deceased) in 1946.

Jane received her M.A. in education in 1950 from ASC. Jane taught in Winslow, Sierra Vista, Ft. Defiance, Goodyear, and Douglas, Arizona.

She leaves behind her sons, Kelly (Elaine) and Kenneth (Tracy); a daughter, Kate (Jim); and a grandson, Casey. She also had many nieces, nephews, and the step-families of Erick and Greg Newton.

Jane was well-read, well-spoken, and a wonderful writer. Her many notes are cherished by those who were fortunate enough to receive one. She was a grand lady who will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

There will be no memorial service.
