Mr. Billy Armstrong, 86, of Clemmons, NC peacefully passed away at 10:38 P.M. on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born to the late Beulah Hollingsworth Armstrong and Myron T. Armstrong, Sr. on January 28, 1930 in Robertson County, Springfield, TN. Billy remained proud of his Tennessee roots. He was in the 1948 graduating class at Springfield Senior High School. Throughout his life, Billy pursued his love for the cattle business. As a young man, he raised and showed purebred Hereford cattle and dedicated his life and career to apply his expertise as the General Manager and Herdsman for Hereford cattle ranches in Moberly, Missouri, Johnson City, Tennessee and Elliston, Virginia. Perhaps his second greatest love was preparing BBQ. Before his retirement in 1996, he owned and operated a restaurant in the village of Shawsville, Virginia combining his love for people and cooking great BBQ. A devout and faithful Baptist, he served as a deacon and choir member in each of his home churches. Billy accounted for his greatest treasure being married to his high school sweetheart and best friend, Anne Elizabeth Highsmith Armstrong for 66 years. His love for her and his three children remained a part of his most treasured legacy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Myron T. and Joseph Samuel Armstrong. He leaves behind to treasure his memory, his wife Anne Elizabeth Armstrong of the home; a daughter, Sallye Liner and husband David of Bermuda Run, NC; sons, William Scott Armstrong and Stanley Trent Armstrong both of Roanoke, Virginia. His pride and love extended to his granddaughter, Lindsey M. Bouchard and husband, MSgt. Nathan Bouchard of Mildenhall, England and three cherished great granddaughters, Olivia, Addison and Allye Bouchard. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Billy Highsmith of Springfield, Tennessee and Jerry Highsmith and wife Jane of Buchanan Dam, Texas. His family ties easily attached to his step grand and great grandchildren, Sabrina and Marcus Liner of Charlotte, NC and sons Camilo and Seve and Melissa and Jason Liner of Raleigh, NC and sons Chase, Jackson, Graham and Anthony. A funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel in Advance, NC with Rev. Randy Hillman officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Winston-Salem, NC. The family will receive and greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
