Mary L. Jimenez, 67, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 in Abilene. Funeral services will be 10:30a.m., Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South with burial following in the Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Freeman, Matthew Freeman, Caleb Freeman, Luke Jimenez, Isaac Munoz, and Albert Gonzalez.
Mary was born in Abilene, Texas on July 6, 1948 to Jose Luis Sanchez and Juanita Flores. She was a lifetime resident of Abilene. Mary worked as a long distance phone operator and she loved to read and crochet. Mary was a member of El Divino Salvadore.
Preceding her in death were her parents; daughters, Martha Sotelo and Lydia Bynum; a grandson, Jacob Jimenez, and a brother, Johnny Sanchez. Survivors include her husband, Lionel Jimenez of the home; sons, Luke Jimenez and wife, Mayra of Abilene, and Lionel Jimenez, Jr. and wife, Michelle of Cotton Center, Texas; daughters, Nora Freeman and husband, Michael of Abilene, and Yvonne Gonzalez and husband, Paul of Abernathy, Texas; brothers, Mickey Sanchez of Abilene and Joe Sanchez of Fort Stockton, Texas; sisters, Sylvia Gonzalez and husband, Elias of Leander, Texas, Leticia Alvarado and husband, Rudy, and Bertha Munoz and husband, Isaac all of Abilene; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
