LANETT -- Mrs. Janie Lee Goss Stephens, 71, of Lanett died Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, July 9 at 2 p.m. (EDT) at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Lanett with the Revs. Arthur Jackson, J.W. Wright, Donald Lancaster and Alfred Booker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Stephens is survived by her husband, Mr. Otha Stephens of Lanett; her step-daughter, Diane Stephens of Palatka, Fla.; her step-son, Johnnie Lee Stephens of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, J.C. (Erma) Goss and Willie Robert (Connie Winston) Goss, both of Lanett; her sister, Katie Mae Goss of Boston, Mass.; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Nellie Stephens of Atlanta, Ga.; her step-mother-in-law, Doris Woody of Lanett; eight sisters-in-law, Ms. Lachetta Woody of Lanett, Mary Foreman, Annie Campbell, Helen Williams, Carrie Daniels, Jeanette Brooks, Sarah Cannon and Glenda Harper, all of Atlanta, Ga.; five brothers-in-law, Otis B. Stephens and Benjamin Stephens, both of Atlanta, Jessie L. Stephens of Detroit, Mich., Michael (Linda) Woody and Greg (Tammy) Woody, both of Lanett; her special nieces, Georgia (J.B.) Trammell and Betty Winston, both of Lanett, and Mrs. Ethel (John) Winston of Melbourne, Fla.; her devoted neighbor and friend, Mrs. Bernice (Oscar) Banks Holloway of Lanett; her special cousin, Ms. Reba Booker of Lanett; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Born April 19, 1932 in Chambers County, Mrs. Stephens was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Lanett.
