The Unity Mortuary of Anderson announces the passing of Paul Anthony Pickens, Sr., age 51, of Anderson, SC on Saturday, June 25, 2017.
Family and friends will gather at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 29, 2017 to celebrate his life at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 211 Chapman Road, Anderson, SC 29625 with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family is at 3406 New Pond Road, Anderson, SC 29626.
Paul was born July 6, 1965 to Ella Bell Cunningham Pickens and to the late Nathaniel Pickens, Sr. in Anderson, SC.
Paul is survived by his wife, Joann Pickens of the home; two sons, Paul Anthony Pickens, Jr. and Johnathan Cole Pickens both Anderson, SC; mother, Ella B. Pickens; sisters, Mary Bennett (Louis) of San Antonio, TX, Gwenloyn Williford, Eva Pickens and Teresa Pickens all of Anderson, SC, Katharie Blakely (Barry) of Laurens, SC and Patricia Pickens of Anderson, SC; brothers, Eddie Hollings of Anderson, SC, Nathaniel Pickens, Jr. of Salinas, CA., David Pickens of Brunswick, GA., Michael Pickens of Anderson, SC, Timothy Pickens of Panama City, FL., John Pickens (Stephanie) of Weatherfield, CT. and Daryl Pickens (Hope) of Charleston, SC; a mother-in-law , sisters- in- law and one brother-in-law; a loyal friend, Timothy ''Timmy'' Gray; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Nathaniel Pickens, Sr.; grandparents, Edna Pickens Laitmer and Bill Cunningham and Mary Cunningham.
