Phillip Leroy Mitchell was born August 18, 1939 in Williamston, SC. He departed this life on Sunday, July 16, 2017.
He was the son of the late Calvin Mitchel and the late Mary Thompson Mitchell. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. Phillip attended the Anderson County School System in Williamston, SC. He was a former employee of Gerber Plant in Pelzer, SC.
Phillip was predeceased by one brother, James Wesley Mitchell; one sister, Esther Robinson; first wife, Mary Mattison McLeod Mitchell and second wife, Alice Patricia Rutledge Mitchell; step- daughter, Jacquelyn Oglesby.
He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories his sister, Linda Roberts of Williamston, SC; three brothers, Ralph C. (Daisy) Mitchell of Greenville, SC, Walter R. (Shirley) Mitchell and John Sam Mitchell all of Williamston, SC; one uncle, John Hardy Thompson of Anderson, SC; two aunts, Amaleada Hamm of Philadelphia and Betty Hawthorne of Milwaukee ; a special nephew, James Roberts (Junior) of Williamston, SC ; two step-daughters, Maxine Castleberry of New York and Lucretia Elrod of Kansas City and a host of many nephews, nieces other relatives and dear friends.
