Bill was born on May 18, 1942, to Charly and Ella Shipley. He graduated from Fresno High School in 1960.
Bill and Cora met at age 14 and were married for 56 wonderful years. Bill's early career was in the construction business. In 1968, Bill succeeded in obtaining his dream job with the Fresno Police Department. An on the job accident brought an early end to his career. Thereafter, Bill went back to construction and enjoyed many years building custom homes as "William Shipley Custom Homes."
In 1970, Bill moved his family to the country, east of Clovis to raise his family. Through the years, Bill and Cora owned several business's in Old Town Clovis.
Bill was Santa's helper in Old Town Clovis for over 20 years. His best job ever! For the last 13 years, he has enjoyed helping many kids enjoy their favorite, sometimes their first, flavor of ice cream at Scoops and Soups. He was there almost every day opening the shop.
57 years with the only woman he ever loved, two children whom he adored and who adored him back, five grandchildren who gave him his happiest days near the end.
Bill had a great life and will be missed by all who knew him. "We love you honey, Dad, and Papa. To The Moon and Back."
Bill is survived by his loving wife Cora; son, Bill Jr. and wife Megan; five precious grandchildren, Liam, Skyelach, Keegan, Bronwyn, and Megan of Hawaii; daughter, Marci and husband Bob of Clovis; sisters, Rosetta and Sue; numerous sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; neices and nephews; and special friends that had coffee several times a week at Scoops with Bill.
We would like to thank Dr. Hackett and his wonderful staff for the loving care they gave Bill and Cora; and a special hug to Darrellyn for always being there for us.
