Doris Jean Parrott Manning was born August 19, 1925, in Wellston, Oklahoma, to Katherine Lyons & Guy Matthew Parrott. He graduated from Wellston High School in 1943 and from Oklahoma A&M (now OSU) in 1947.
She married Eldredge Manning August 27, 1949, in Chandler Oklahoma. She started teaching in Garber, Oklahoma, and retired from the Grand Prairie ISD in 1989. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening and was a member of the Oaks and Acorns Garden Club. She joined First Methodist Church of Grand Prairie in 1953 and was especially active in the United Methodist Women and in her Sunday School class.
Doris died July 15, 2017. She is survived by children: Ron Manning and his wife, MaryJane, Mark Manning, Kathleen Leddy and her husband, Gayland, Patricia Smith and her husband, Julian; grandchildren: Catherine Trent and her husband, Kirk, Matthew Manning and his wife, Kayla, Dr. Jonathan Manning and Christy Sweeney, Capt. Trey Leddy and his wife, Caitlin, Sgt. Andrew Leddy, Callie Manning; great-grandchildren: Nathan Trent, Cohen Manning, Everett Manning, Case Manning, Sydney Martinez, Drake Sweeney and Matthew Sweeney.
