Special to The Daily News. – John C. Hickman, 83, died at the home of his son Frank Hickman last evening after an extended illness for the past few months. Mr. Hickman had been ailing for many weeks, finally succumbing to a complication of diseases and old age. Mr. Hickman was born Oct. 13 1846 in the state of Indiana, where he lived until 1866. In that year he moved westward into Iowa and settled in Jasper county near Baxter where he has remained for the greater portion of his life. He was married in 1866 to Amelia Draper in Jasper county, who preceded him in death. Since 1909, he has been living in Baxter, retiring from the farm in that year after many years of work there. He is survived by one son, Frank Hickman, of Baxter. There was only one brother in the family, he having preceded Mr. Hickman in death. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at the Congregational church at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. B.F. Myers, pastor in charge. Mr. Hickman was affiliated with the church of the Latter Day Saints. He was also a member of the Daily News Three-Quarter Century club.
