OBITUARY READS:
I just got tired of it all and died on August 11, 2015.
I was born September 16, 1931, in Neodesha, KS, to Charles D. and Midge M. Eaton.
For whatever reason, I have been an Episcopalian all my life, because wherever you found four, you'd find a fifth.
I graduated from Neodesha High school, and attended Independence Junior College in Independence, KS., Kansas State College in Pittsburg, KS, and Kansas City Junior College in Kansas City, MO.
Preceded by; my parents, my first wife Barbara Jeanne (Moon), daughters Patricia Eaton and Jolinda Lebentritt, son David, and brothers Truman and Jack Eaton.
Survived by; wife Suzanne, two sons Michael Eaton of Springfield, MO and Mark Eaton of the Kansas City area; daughters Roseann Mazur and Amy Cornwell of the Kansas City area; stepson Christopher Popio of Chicago; twelve grandchildren and two great- granddaughters.
EMPLOYMENT:
I worked for Sloan Enterprises, Inc./Suhor Industries, Kansas City, MO, as Vice President/Cemetery Div., responsible for operations of nine cemeteries; two in Kansas City, MO , six in Kansas and one in Oklahoma. In addition, I played a key role in the expansion of the cemetery division of the company which included implementing lawn crypt programs throughout the country, master planning consultants, administrative consultants and cemetery product supply source. I designed and developed nearly a million burial spaces throughout the U.S. and Canada. Prior to that I worked for Service Corporation International, Houston, TX, (S.C.I.) Regional Office at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, MO, as Cemetery Operations Manager/Central Region. I was responsible for supervision of administrative and maintenance departments of the six regional cemeteries; two in Kansas City, MO, two in Tennessee and two in North Carolina. Prior to that I worked as Operations Manager for Mount Moriah, where I oversaw and was directly involved with all operations, including the nursery and flower shop. Prior to that, I was Resident Engineer, Surveyor and Draftsman for Larkin & Assoc. Consulting Engineers, Kansas City, MO. During this time, I served as founding officer of the American Society of Certified Engineering Technicians (ASCET).
I served as Secretary/Treasurer, Central States Cemetery Assoc.; was on the Board of Directors, Kansas Cemetery Assoc.; member of Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Southern Cemetery Assoc.; and on the Board of Directors, Suppliers Assoc. of the National Cemetery Assoc. I chaired the Center School Advisory Committee and served on numerous advisory committees for Center School District; was active in Boy Scouts of America; was a voting delegate to Heart of America Council; and an honorary scout in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. I served as court appointed appraiser for Jackson County Probate Court and served nine months on the Jackson County Grand Jury.
It is hoped that I will be greatly missed by my wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and few friends, but never forgotten.
