Bill obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from Boston University, School of Communications. He worked most of his life as a retail manager and retired from the former Kings Department Store in Hanover. He was a member and past president of the former Parkville Fire Co. and is a current member of the Penn Township Relief Association, McSherrystown Fish and Game Association and was very active in the Boy Scouts of America.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons; Scott D. Butts and wife Tammy of Hanover and Daniel W. Butts and wife Teresa of Charleston, SC, four grandsons; Tyler and Collin Butts of Hanover and David and Matthew Butts of Charleston, SC.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Avenue, McSherrystown with Rev. Charles L. Persing officiating. Burial will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover.
